The stages of selecting the Chancellor (Pilrek) of the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continue to roll out. The results of the selection of prospective candidates have been announced by the Undiksha Senate, on Friday (14/12/2018). It was stated that one person had been thrown out, namely Prof. Dr. I Gede Astra Wesnawa, who serves as Chair of LPPM Undiksha. Meanwhile four other people, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd who is still active as Chancellor, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Pujawan, M.Kes., who still serves as Deputy Chancellor III, Dr. I Gusti Lanang Agung Parwata, S.Pd., M.Kes as Head of the Student Career and Entrepreneurship Development Unit, and Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd., M.Pd who is the Dean of the Technical and Vocational Faculty (FTK) can progress to the next stage.
Chairman of the Undiksha Senate, Prof. Dr. Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd., explained that Astra Wesnawa did not pass because it did not fulfill the requirements for collecting registration documents. The person concerned submits it to the committee through someone else’s intermediary. “In accordance with the regulations regarding technical instructions for selection and selection of rectors, it is stated that for candidates from Undiksha, registration and submission of documents must be carried out directly by the person concerned. “Because the file was submitted by someone else, at the senate meeting it was decided that the person concerned would not pass,” he explained, accompanied by the Head of the Regional Election Committee, Prof. Dr. Nyoman Dantes.
These results are immediately conveyed to all registrants via letter. After this stage, screening was carried out through the delivery of the vision and mission which was scheduled for January 8, 2019. “When conveying the vision and mission it was attended by the senate, from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, and other invitees, especially the academic community,” he explained. From that, the number of candidates will be narrowed down to three people. The determination must first take place through consensus deliberation. If you haven’t reached a decision, then a vote will be taken. “These results will be submitted to the center, then the election will continue,” said the former Chancellor of Undiksha for two terms, while hoping that the election process could run conductively.
Meanwhile, Astra Wesnawa did not question the Senate’s decision. He admitted that he did not pay attention to existing regulations. “According to regulations, it must be submitted directly (files-ed). But because at that time I was in Thailand, I assigned staff. “That is a regulation, I don’t pay attention to it,” he said. He emphasized that he remained committed to helping build and advance Undiksha even though he did not serve as chancellor. “Whoever it is, we will support the development of the institution. “I’m just normal, I don’t have any other thoughts,” he said. As Chair of the LPPM, he has hopes for the Chancellor who will serve for the 2019-2023 period. Namely, research can continue to be developed and expanded. (hms)
