Singaraja- International-level achievements continue to be made by students of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha), Singaraja. This time it came from Putra Bimantara Putu Agus. He won bronze in the 9th Thailand Open Karatedo Championship which takes place from 12 to 14 July 2019.
Receiving achievements in the Southeast Asian event, he had to face karatekas from Nepal, India, Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar whose abilities were highly reckoned with. “To get this achievement, it is necessary to struggle which is not easy,” he said after meeting with Undiksha Deputy Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., Wednesday (17/7/2019).
This is not the first time this student of the Faculty of Sports and Health has won an achievement in a karate championship. Previously, he also won gold at the 2016 Indonesia International Championship. There were also two gold medals at the championships in Batam in 2017 and several championships at the district and provincial levels. “I’ve also joined PON. But no luck yet,” he said.
He admitted that he was not satisfied with this achievement. His desire to be able to take part in more prestigious competitions is still very big. Now he is still preparing to take part in the Bali Provincial Sports Week and the National Student Sports Week. “After that, the plan is to take part in the championship in Malaysia,” he added. The coach, Kadek Yogi Parta Lesmana, said that it took quite a long time to prepare for this result. He also openly admitted that he was not satisfied with the achievement. “The name of a champion, of course, will never be satisfied. Quality improvement continues to be carried out to get better results, “he said.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suastra said this achievement was very important to boost the grade of the institution, both at the national and international levels. Therefore, it is hoped that other glorious achievements will continue to be born. Specifically for Bimantara, educational support scholarships have been prepared. “I really appreciate this. Hope it doesn’t stop. Must continue to improve self-quality. The university will give an award,” he concluded. (hms)
