Singaraja– Commemoration of the 91st Youth Pledge Day at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) took place solemnly. The atmosphere seemed different from the usual ceremony. Now, participants wear traditional clothes according to their region of origin. Some even wore them from other regions. This is a form of Indonesianness and evokes a sense of unity.
This ceremony was led by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. He also wore Acehnese traditional clothes. A number of officials in the Undiksha environment also wore traditional Batak, Bugis, Madurese clothing, and so on. “I appreciate the committee’s innovation. This is who we really are. From a young age, we value diversity,” he explained.
The Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency said that this diversity is the “spirit” of Indonesia’s progress and is capable of becoming a great country. “Now the key is this diversity which is a resource, a source of everything, we can use to support Indonesia’s progress. We are Indonesia,” he said.
On that occasion, the younger generation is also continuously encouraged to become superior, creative, and innovative generation. This is one of the strategies in facing increasingly fierce global competition. Undiksha is currently making efforts to give birth to a superior generation. One of them is creating quality learning, including accommodating the needs in facing the industrial revolution 4.0 era, such as mastery of information technology.
Mastery of information technology was also mentioned in the Menpora’s remarks. This is considered capable of enabling young people to increase their knowledge capacity in resource development and competitiveness. However, it cannot be denied that in its development, technology has had a negative impact, becoming a medium for spreading destructive information. (hms)
