Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to strengthen preparations for the implementation of Social Restrictions-Based Schooling Practice (PLPbPS) in 2020. The implementation of this new program is coordinated with the Principal, starting from kindergarten to high school/vocational school level in Singaraja City and its surroundings, Wednesday (24/6/2020).
At the event which took place in the Rectorate’s Ganesha III Room, Undiksha Vice Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI said that PLPbPS was being implemented for the first time. This program is one of the efforts to anticipate the spread of Covid-19 which is still a serious problem in society. “I hope that learning or rights that must be obtained by students and students can continue to run well,” he said accompanied by the Head of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. I Made Ardana, M.Pd., and Secretary of LPPPM, Dr. I Gusti Lanang Agung Parwata, M.Kes.
Further explained, this program runs for eight weeks, from August to October 2020. According to the design, each student will support five to ten students. This needs to be coordinated earlier with the tutor and school principal. “Through this meeting, we ask for input, so that later program implementation can run as expected,” he said.
The aim of this program is the same as before, which is to provide a schooling experience for students. What is different is the technical implementation, namely the number of students being taught is less and students do not come directly to school. Students will later be able to fully implement teaching practices online for students who have a good internet network, semi-online for students with a poor internet network, and explore directly to the residences of students who do not have internet access while still paying attention to the Covid-19 prevention protocol. “I hope that school principals and tutors can sit together with our students to plan lessons for next semester,” he added.
The head of PLP Undiksha Center, Dr. Dewa Gede Sanjaya, M.Si explained to PLPbPS, student practice is not school-based but chooses the school where they are. Therefore, it is considered that there is a need for input from the school regarding the constraints that might occur for further solutions to be found. “We hope this program can run effectively and efficiently,” he said.
The implementation of this program received a positive response from the school. It is hoped that students can also contribute to students and teachers to maximize online learning. On that occasion, it was also revealed that the characteristics of students in each school are different, such as not all of them have internet access. It is hoped that this can be anticipated early on so that the outcomes of the PLPbPS program can be as expected. (hms)
