Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) provides opportunities for students to get to know the world of work in an effort to improve their skills and competitiveness. This is shown through the program’s student employment.
In this program, there were 12 students who passed the selection. The amount is in accordance with the needs analysis carried out by the Undiksha Human Resources (HR) section. These students receive assignments spread across the finance section, the sports section, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) section, and the public relations section.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Finance, Administration, and Human Resources, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., after giving directions on implementing regulations and duties and functions, Thursday (6/8/2020) explained that this program aims to provide opportunities for students to get to know the world of work which they will later be involved in when they have finished studying at tertiary institutions. “Through this, they will get experience earlier,” he explained.
Delivered further, through this student is also expected to improve skills in setting the scale of priorities between studies and preparation as a workforce. “Our hope is that student’s participation in this program will not hinder their studies. In fact, we want them to learn how to organize and manage time so that their studies can be completed more quickly,” he said.
This program also cannot be separated from the independent campus and independent learning policies rolled out by the Ministry of Education and Culture. “This is one form of implementation of the policy,” said the Vice Chancellor from Bonyoh Village, Kintamani District, Bangli.
These students will take part in the program for five months with a maximum of 6 hours of work per day with a large award in accordance with the standard college fees. “Our problem is not the six hours. But more than that, students can optimally get to know the world of work. Access to information about the world of work is really obtained from the head of the section, “he explained.
In addition, this program is strictly selected by involving an independent team. “Online-based selection, transparent. Why is it only in that field?, because based on an analysis in the HR sector, that field still needs assistance rather than more fresh and innovative staff,” he added.
One of the students, Erina Dwiyanti, admitted that she was interested in joining this program to apply the knowledge gained in lectures. “Family is very supportive because it can provide benefits for pursuing a career in the future. I hope to be able to contribute to the institution and be able to apply this experience to the world of work in the future,” he said. (hms)
