Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) again received dozens of students from China for the 2023/2024 academic year. The international student took part in an orientation and introduction to campus life offline, Monday (17/7/2023).
There were 32 students consisting of the Management Science Study Program and the Doctoral Education Science Study Program. These students gather together to study using the system block system to discuss related research that will be carried out until next August.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., who attended and opened the orientation activity said that the presence of international students was expected to improve the quality of Undiksha, increase international experience and improve the academic climate. “I hope that the presence of these international students will also have an impact on other students and also provide international experience to our lecturers,” he said.
The presence of students from China is also the result of collaboration since 2022 with Indonesia Education Development (IED), which is one of the agents for international students.
In 2022, based on data published by the ministry, Undiksha will have 186 international students besides students from China. These students take full degree programs at Undiksha and non-degree programs, such as teaching practicum, intensive programs, international summer schools, and student exchange for those taking several courses at Undiksha. “I hope that the program that has been launched since 2019, namely Internationalization at Home, can really bring or prepare our University for the entire international community to study and improve their academic quality at Undiksha,” he explained.
In the future, Undiksha will try to increase the number of international students, then improve the quality, and it is also hoped that it will soon be able to open other study programs in the Postgraduate Program for international students programs. This needs to be supported by preparations being carried out in stages and in tandem, be it the readiness of human resources, infrastructure, and learning. (hms)
