Singaraja- Teacher Professional Education (PPG) implemented by the University of Education Ganesha (Undiksha) in 2021 continues. This national program has stepped on stage IV with the number of participants reaching 493 people. This number is relatively high at the national level. “PPG stage four is actually an additional stage whose purpose is to facilitate teachers who have passed the PPG selection since 2019-2020 who have not been covered in PPG activities that have already been carried out,” said PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., when giving a report on academic orientation activities, Monday (13/9/2021).
Delivered further, the participants consisted of eight fields of study, namely Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Early Childhood Education Teacher Education (PGPAUD), Geography, Science, Mathematics, Indonesian, Balinese, and Physical and Health Education. Participants did not only come from Bali but also from outside Bali, which as a whole consisted of 232 regencies/cities. “For the number of classes, this stage is the most. There are 15 classes. The diversity of participants’ origins also increasingly shows Undiksha as the rainbow of the archipelago,” he said.
Delivered further, the implementation of PPG for these additional participants is a form of Undiksha’s commitment to creating teachers who are increasingly professional, superior, and skilled and who will be able to make an even greater contribution to producing quality human resources. “Undiksha highly upholds its commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia. So Undiksha is ready with the maximum quota that can be implemented in accordance with the presence of human resources that we have,” explained Nurjaya.
Specifically for academic orientation, he continued, it became one of the participants’ guidelines for continuing PPG activities. Also through this, participants will gain knowledge about PPG policies, both related to institutional or university policies as well as policies at the national level. “This orientation is just the beginning. In the future, there are still a number of activities that students must participate in. I hope that it will continue to run well and the results will be as expected, “added Nurjaya.
Meanwhile, Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., in his remarks said that what is important in this PPG is to produce teachers who are professional and superior. “Of course, I really agree with that because for us to be able to create superior human resources, of course, it starts with superior teachers,” he said.
Delivered further, PPG is a space for teachers to hone competencies and develop learning models that are relevant to their needs. He emphasized that in the current era, students are the digital generation. Apart from that, in terms of learning resources, there are also no problems because they are easily accessible. In this case, the teacher’s task is to be able to make a pleasant learning process happen. “So that might be the key thing in us producing a superior generation. Because superior is competent, he masters science, improves his skills, masters technology, but there must also be character built there,” he concluded.
The Chancellor who once served as Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Education added that Undiksha continues to make improvements to the implementation of the PPG program so that it is better and the output is of higher quality. This academic orientation activity also presented Undiksha’s Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., as a guest speaker who presented material about the direction and goals of PPG.(hms)
