PROGRAM Apprenticeship is one of the leading programs being intensively campaigned by the central government. One of these programs is intended for students. The benefits are very important for the development of soft skills that really support a smooth career going forward.
There are a number of requirements to be able to join the program. Among them, are registered as active students (not currently taking leave from college), at least semester V for D3 students, and semester VII for D4/S1 students. In addition, have a minimum GPA of 2.75, are willing to carry out an internship for 6 months, obtain permission from the Study Program manager, and are not allowed to take leave and graduate during the internship.
This opportunity was not missed by a number of Undiksha students. One of them is Putu Yunik Widiarini. This student majoring in Economics and Accounting took part in the 2021 Certified Student Internship Program from FHCI (Indonesian Human Capital Forum) in collaboration with Undiksha. This white student shared a bit of his experience. She got the opportunity to do an internship at PT. Pegadaian (Persero) Regional Office VII Denpasar. The program consists of two batches. First, it will take place on March 18 – September 18 2021 andbatch the second, taking place on 20 September 2021 – 16 March 2022.
There are several stages that must be passed to be able to take part in the program, starting from registration, the administrative process, and then selection. Yunik, as he is affectionately known, has successfully participated in an internship at batch I. The interesting experience he got motivated him to continue his internship in batch II. Participation in this national program is used as a space to gain experience and improve self-competence. He can also learn time management between practical work and lecture activities. “Because we can’t take time off from college, we as students and participating in internship programs must be good at managing our time. Incidentally, when I registered, I just had to write my thesis,” she explained, Monday (11/10/2021).
This 1999-born student does not deny that while participating in the program she experienced a few difficulties, moreover she was placed in a newly formed department. “Difficulties in adapting to work at the internship place, because I was placed in the Risk Department. Incidentally, the department was just formed 2 years ago. So we can learn together with the employees,” she said.
This 22-year-old student is very grateful for having an internship program, especially in this program, besides being able to add knowledge and experience, she can also add to relationships. “At the apprenticeship, we can get close to important people. Such as meeting with the central pawnshop and being involved in the pawnshop anniversary event,” she said.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., often invites students to take part in activities aimed at competency development, one of which is internships. This program is also in line with the Free Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) policy that was rolled out by the Ministry of Education and Culture. “Participating in an internship program is the right step for students to be able to develop their own potential and also be ready to face challenges in the real world of work. Hopefully, in the future there will be more and more active students to take advantage of the opportunities that exist so that they can become graduates who are superior and ready to be competitive,” he said.
