The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education at the Ganesha University of Education (FTK-Undiksha) is not only serious about increasing study program accreditation as an effort to increase competitiveness. Moreover, he is also pursuing ISO 9001:2015 certification. This target has already been realized.
Deputy Dean I of FTK Undiksha, Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Sc., explained that this certification was carried out in two sessions. First, it consists of a system review that concerns the Organization Context, Business Scope, Quality Policy, Quality Objective, document review including system management, and risk review and material management.
“If the review is in accordance with ISO Standards then it can proceed to the next Stage, but vice versa, if it is not appropriate then there will be revisions that need to be made according to the Auditor’s input. For FTK, these stages can be passed properly, meaning there are no significant revisions,” she explained, Friday (5/11/2021).
Meanwhile, for the second session, a review was conducted of the Top management and Quality Management Representative (QMR), related to the organizational context, leadership (commitment, policies, responsibilities, and authorities), planning (risks & opportunities, goals, change planning), support ( resources, competence, awareness, communication), monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation, management systems, policies, responsibilities and authorities, internal audit communications, non-conformities, and corrective actions management review. Then proceed to the coordinators, heads of laboratories, and related units within the FTK regarding the organizational context, leadership, planning, support, evaluation of operational performance, and improvement. “From that process, FTK was successfully certified ISO 9001: 2015,” she explained.
It was said further, the motivation to pursue this certification is one of the efforts to realize FTK in particular and Undiksha in general to become Faculties and Universities that are Excellent in Asia 2045. “So inevitably the International Standards Organization becomes part of our target as well as the process towards AQAS certification,” she said.
This ISO9001:2015 activity is part of the PKKM-PTI grant activity in activity C4, namely PTI Go International which is expected to have an impact not only on study programs but also at the faculty and institutional level.
In order to get this certification, continued Agustini, very thorough preparation is needed. The faculty carried out a series of workshops involving consultants from Bersinergi Trikarya Sukses (BTS) Jakarta. It is undeniable that there are challenges that involve consistency, hard work, and commitment from the Faculty leadership along with lecturers and students. “We do everything together and understand each other’s duties and functions,” she said.
After obtaining this certification, the next challenge is to maintain and improve the achievements that have been obtained. “Because we at FTK will continue to be monitored by the ISO Agency which will re-check every year that our quality management system process is consistently running well,” she added.
