Singaraja- The screening of Rector candidates of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) for the 2023-2027 period took place on Thursday (12/15/2022). At this step, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., got 27 votes and placed him as the top vote earner from the Undiksha Senate.
This screening step begins with the delivery of the vision and mission by the prospective rector candidates in front of the Undiksha Senate head and members, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek), representatives of lecturer, representatives of the employee, and students. Candidate number 1, Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes., carries the vision of “Building Undiksha Harmony to Realize Global Achievement.” Candidate number 2, Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., carries the vision of “Becoming a Leading University with Harmony and Integrative Nuances Based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy Towards an International Reputation Campus in 2035”. Candidate number 3, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suparta, M.Si., carries the vision of “Undiksha: Independent, Harmony, Achievers, Excellence, Authority.” and candidate number 4, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., carries the vision of “Realizing Undiksha as an International Reputable in Education and Leadership based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy.” This vision is supported by various programs used as strategies to support progress and increase competitiveness in the future.
Apart from presenting the vision and mission, the prospective candidates also received questions from the panelists appointed by the Undiksha Senate. The panelists consisted of representatives of the leadership, representatives of professors, representatives of lecturers, representatives of employees, and representatives of students. This session is also a sharpening of insight from the prospective rector candidates.
Furthermore, the prospective rector candidates followed the screening to become rector candidates. The election was held behind closed doors by the Undiksha Senate. This screening follows Senate Regulation Number 2 of 2022 concerning the Rector Election and Senate Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning Technical Guidelines for Rector Election. Of the 39 voters, 27 votes were directed to Lasmawan, followed by Sudiana with 6 votes, Artanayasa with 5 votes, and Suparta with 1 vote. The Undiksha Senate determined the top three votes as Rector Candidates, which were then submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research and continued to follow the Rector election step. “Later, these results will be sent first to the ministry, then there will be evaluated, and validated. After that all the requirements are met, there will be a Rector election,” explained the Undiksha Senate Head, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd., after the special meeting.
Further conveyed, the election of the rector will be carried out by the Undiksha Senate and the Minister of Education and Research or who represented. “The Senate has 65 percent of the votes and the ministry has 35 percent of the votes,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the head of the Rector Election Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Si., explained that the period for the rector election was scheduled between January 16-27, 2023. “This means we give the tentative ministry when they can,” he concluded. (hms)
