Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) received a visit from representatives of La-Rochelle University, France, Monday (11/4/2022). This momentum is not only used for monitoring and evaluating ongoing cooperation programmes. But also discussed the improvement of future cooperation.
On that occasion, the University of La-Rochelle was represented by Chandra Nuraeni. He was present with the Attaché of Linguistic Cooperation of the French Institute in Indonesia, Philippe Grange. The Vice-Rector accepted them for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T. M.T.I., accompanied by the Cooperation and Public Relations Agency ranks and the Coordinator of the relevant Study Programmes.
The cooperative relationship between the two universities has been going on for a long time and is very close. Every year, except during the 2020-2021 pandemic, La-Rochelle always sends its students to undergo transfer credit at Undiksha by taking several courses that can be equivalent to systems that have been programmed.
Rasben Dantes welcomed the presence of representatives from the University of La-Rochelle. Through this meeting, future cooperation programs can be formulated to strengthen the cooperation that has been established previously. According to him, the programme that can be maximized is credit transfer, both in terms of quality and number of students. For Undiksha, this programme is a form of implementation of the Merdeka Learning program for the Merdeka Campus, one of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology policies.
The fast track programme was also discussed at this meeting. Undiksha has done it with Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan. Students who participate will receive a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. This programme is also expected to be interwoven with the University of La-Rochelle.
“Hopefully, this will open a way for us to collaborate with La-Rochelle University related to the fast track programme because it will be wonderful if it can be implemented. Currently, three La-Rochelle students do transfer credits at Undiksha,” she said.
Representative of La-Rochelle University, Chandra Nuraeni, also welcomed the collaboration with Undiksha because it can provide new experiences for students and support each other’s development. “Thanks to this collaboration, we feel that Undiksha and La-Rochelle University are improving and gaining a lot of experience because students here are well received in subjects and cultural inclusion in Singaraja” she said.
He also responded positively to Undiksha’s offer to collaborate with the Fast Track programme. This will be discussed further. He hopes that the cooperation between the two parties can continue.
“Hopefully, we want this collaboration to continue to help each other in the future. La-Rochelle University is a small university yet dynamic because of its position on the sea coast. So we have similarities in technological research and the field of culture,” she added.
Meanwhile, Philippe Grange admitted that he supports this collaboration. He hopes that the number of students participating in the programme in the future will increase, which is supported by various efforts, one of which is scholarships. “We assess that there is already a student exchange between Undiksha and La-Rochelle University, but there are 3-4 students every year. We hope that in the future it can increase. We support this effort in various ways, including scholarship providence,” she said.
She emphasized that one of the requirements for Undiksha students to take part in the programme at La-Rochelle University was to master French, at least with an A1 score, such as being able to introduce themselves and very simple conversations. “That’s one of the conditions. We don’t want to send students who don’t speak French because at least it can be a provision for them to find a way or shop,” she concluded. (lpsy)
