Singaraja- The enthusiasm and struggle of the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) team who appeared in the Men’s Adult 45 KM Hiking Competition bore fruit. The campus pride team in the stretch of North Bali won third place. This is based on the decision of the Buleleng Regency Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) and was set on August 15, 2022.
In this prestigious competition, Undiksha entered the high school/vocational school and college categories which competed with eight other teams. This walk starts at the Celukan Bawang Village Football Field, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, which starts at 21.00 P.M. Undiksha who got the breast number 12 was the first to touch the finish point at the Bhuana Patra Sports Arena, Singaraja City with a complete formation at around 05.00 A.M.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who was present at the release ceremony with the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., stated that he did not expect his team to win. He emphasized that what is more important is being able to build sportsmanship. However, with the acquisition of this championship, he certainly gave more appreciation and considered it extraordinary. “Winning is indeed important, but what is more important is sportsmanship. If sportsmanship can win, it will be extraordinary,” he said.
The walking competition, which the people of Buleleng have been waiting for, was suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. When it was held again, the lively atmosphere was inevitable. The people spilled onto the streets to witness and give encouragement to the participants. (hms)
