Singaraja– Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) inaugurated four professors on Wednesday (1/12/2022). As a series of Undiksha’s 29th Anniversary, the event occurred in a hybrid way.
The four professors are Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Parwati, M.Pd., with the field of Mathematics Education/Learning Technology, Prof. Dr. Anantawikrama Tungga Atmadja, S.E., Ak., M.Sc., with an area of accounting, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi., with the field of guidance and counseling, and Prof. Dr. Desak Putu Parmiti, M.S., with the field of measurement and evaluation of education.
The inauguration was done by the Chairman of the Undiksha Senate, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd. On that occasion, he conveyed that this new professor is certainly an asset Undiksha should utilize for progression. He likens the professor to an elite force in college. “So how these elite troops lead could bring Undiksha to a better future to reach a world-class University that has been proclaimed in Undiksha’s vision,” he said.
He hoped this inauguration could motivate other lecturers to propose and get professorships immediately. “Hopefully, with the inauguration of these four professors, they will soon follow other professors who are younger, more active, so that we believe that Undiksha will be much better in the future,” said the former Undiksha-Rector for two terms.
He further stated that other lecturers had proposed professorship positions, and it is hoped that a decree from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology will be issued shortly. “There is already a nomination process, and hopefully, it has gone down so we can add another one in the shortest possible time, Professor,” he added.
Undiksha Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., hoped that these professors could continue their creativity and produce scientific or academic works that can benefit Undiksha and the community. Furthermore, these four professors are expected to motivate other lecturers so that Undiksha can meet the target in 2025 to have 100 professors. “At this time, with the addition of 4 new people, there are only 46 people. It means we need 54 other professors. But in the next three, four years, this shall be fulfilled,” he said.
The Rector from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, emphasized further that professors are very important for the progress and achievements of the institution, for example, in the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU) as an assessment aspect, as well as in accreditation. “If we want A, there must be a professor. This means that professors are needed. Therefore, this professor can motivate others to be able to meet the needs of 100 professors in 2025,” he said.
Undiksha has taken strategic steps to increase the number of professors, one of which is by forming an acceleration team. Meanwhile, specifically for the inauguration, new professors also get to fill scientific orations with topics related to their scientific fields. (lpsy)
