Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) welcomes its 26th Anniversary. This event was used as a momentum to strengthen institutional governance and implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. “The age of 26 is certainly a very productive age for Undiksha,” said the Chancellor, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., after the opening ceremony at the local campus ceremony field, on Tuesday (8/1/2019).
Accompanied by the vice chancellor, he explained that strengthening institutional governance had become a joint commitment of the Undiksha academic community. Various efforts have been made, starting from improving the quality of Human Resources (HR) to facilities and infrastructure. This is also none other than to accelerate the realization of Undiksha’s vision as a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia in 2045. “If governance is good. Likewise, with HR, this vision can be realized more quickly. “You don’t have to wait long,” he stressed.
2019 was declared the year of internationalization. To make this happen, the university which has a Faculty of Medicine has taken concrete steps, in the form of sending lecturers and students abroad to study. This program has been running since 2017. Maximizing this, lecturers and students have also increased their mastery of foreign languages through the International Center for English Excellence (ICEE) program. “We will also accept as many students from abroad as possible. “This includes lecturers to teach here,” said the former Deputy Chancellor II of Undiksha.
On that occasion, achievements during the last four years were also presented. Jampel explained that when he first served as number one at the largest state university in North Bali in 2015, it had been declared a year of togetherness. This can also be realized as expected. Demonstrated by a common commitment to making the university better. Then 2016 was designated as the year of accreditation. Armed with hard work, around 40 percent of study programs that were initially accredited C, in two years, almost all of them have become B. Some have also achieved A. “Now there is only one C. This achievement cannot be separated from the declaration of the Year of Togetherness,” he said.
Meanwhile, 2017 is set as the year of publication. Lecturers are encouraged to write scientific articles that can be published in reputable international journals. “Initially the articles published could be counted on the fingers of one hand. “Now it has reached 166. With a small university, not many lecturers, this is an extraordinary achievement,” said the chancellor from South Kuta, Badung. Especially for 2018, it is designated as the year of information technology. Various bureaucratic matters are carried out through the system. “With this, bureaucracy can be faster,” he said.
Apart from these achievements, Jampel said, Undiksha also managed to rank third nationally in the integrity zone of a corruption-free area and a clean bureaucratic service area. To get that position you have to compete with hundreds of universities. Apart from that, from 2016 to 2018 he also successively received the Fair Without Exceptions (WTP) predicate from the Financial Audit Agency (BPK). “We continue to make improvements, including the curriculum. “The Industrial Revolution 4.0 also remains a concern,” he added.
Especially for the anniversary celebration, the Chair of the Committee, I Wayan Treman, S.Pd., M.Sc., said that various types of competitions from sports to arts will be held. At its peak, January 16th is filled with an arts degree evening. “We hope that through this anniversary, Undiksha can get better in the future,” he concluded. (hms)
