Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held the 2020 Development Coordination Meeting, on Friday (7/12/2018). The meeting, which was held at the Madu Sari Hotel, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency, brought together perceptions of various things that are the driving force in realizing Undiksha’s vision of becoming a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia in 2045.
Undiksha Chancellor, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who opened the meeting said that according to the classification and ranking of Indonesian universities by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in 2018, Undiksha was in 36th place, with the assessment indicators used, consisting of the quality of Human Resources (HR), quality of management, quality of student activities and quality of research and publications. Meanwhile, based on Webometric rankings, Undiksha is ranked 89th in Indonesia out of 2,110 universities, and 2,072nd in Asia out of 13,090 universities (source:http://www.webometrics.info), accessed on 5 December 2018. The results of the ranking must still be evaluated in order to become a better university and achieve the vision that has been put forward.
Supporting this, planning, budgeting, and organizing activities continue to be strengthened, especially for 2020. Among other things, reaccreditation of study programs towards superior study programs. Jampel explained that in 2018, considerable thought, time, energy, and funding had been allocated in order to prepare for institutional reaccreditation from B to A, including for 22 study programs. “Until now, we are waiting for the university accreditation visit. “The documents were sent in October 2018. Apart from that, the efforts we are making this year are in order to improve the accreditation of each study program towards superior accreditation,” he said.
Publication of lecturers’ scientific work, whether in reputable international journals, accredited national journals, indexed international conferences, or even at national seminars is also a focus. In order to boost this, 2017 has been declared a publication year. This is also supported by improving governance, developing new journals, setting up a Manuscript Clinic, and providing assistance to accelerate academic promotion. “There were 32 lecturer articles published in Scopus-indexed journals in 2017. In 2018 there were 160 articles. “This is one of the impacts of declaring a publication year,” he stressed.
It was further stated that university competition is getting tougher. Everything is also required to be fast. In response, this university, which has eight faculties, is developing and utilizing technology. This has been realized, among other things, in the lecturer work system, employee work system, legal and management system, Undiksha scholars, and the lecturer database. “This continues to be improved according to needs,” said the Chancellor from Badung Regency.
Industrial Revolution 4.0 was also discussed in this Rakorbang. Undiksha, as a university that is required to produce reliable human resources, has prepared a strategy. Such as providing graduates with multi-competencies, one of which is English, giving students more space and time to build their soft skills. “We continue to make breakthroughs to improve the quality of human resources. “There is through the application of Blended Learning and Flip Classroom,” he said.
Bureaucratic reform is also unforgettable. Undiksha launched Quick Wins “Integrated Services”. “Through this, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the quality of public services and provide wider access for the public to obtain public services,” explained Jampel, who once served as Deputy Chancellor II of Undiksha.
Undiksha was designated as PK-BLU in April 2015. In the midst of this policy, the allocation of funds to carry out activities is very minimal. This is because half of the PNBP funds are allocated for remuneration (financial awards related to performance) for lecturers and staff. In response to this, the largest university in North Bali will increase its student body by paying attention to quality-generating and income-generating aspects. “We have to mature this concept so that the recruitment of new students in 2019 can be realized,” he said. At the Rakorbang which lasted until December 9, Undiksha also strengthened budgeting based on Student Operational Funds (DOM). “We want to make this happen too,” he concluded. (hms)
