Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has prepared student admissions for the 2020 academic year. The student quota for all levels, from Diploma III to Postgraduate, reaches 3,069 people. In line with this, the largest state university in North Bali also has a flagship program in the form of a fast-track program.
Based on the data, the quota consisted of 374 D-3 students, 2,427 S-1 students, 245 S-2 students, and 23 S-3 students. Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd explained that the university he made does not only offer educational study programs, but also non-educational ones. Therefore, the output or graduates are not all prospective teachers. “Undiksha has 64 Study Programs spread across eight faculties. Most of them are non-educational. Undiksha has also had a Faculty of Medicine since 2018. This year it has entered the second batch,” he explained.
Acceptance of students for the 2020 academic year is carried out through SNMPTN which begins with LTMPT account registration from 2 December 2019 – 7 January 2020, filling in PDSS data and ranking by schools on 13 January – 6 February 2020, registration takes place on 11-25 February and announcement of election results scheduled for April 4, 2020. In addition, there is also the SBMPTN which begins with LTMPT account registration from February 7 – April 5, 2020, Computer Based Writing Examination (UTBK) registration from March 30 – April 11, 2020, UTBK implementation from April 20-26 2020 and the announcement of the results is scheduled for May 12, 2020. Meanwhile, the SBMPTN registration takes place on June 2-13 2020, and the announcement of the election results on June 30, 2020. “In addition, there is also an independent pathway. Handled directly by the university. For Undiksha, the registration schedule is still being prepared,” explained Jampel.
As a tertiary institution that plays a role in improving the quality of human resources, Undiksha which has been accredited superior (A) still offers affordable education costs. In order to produce competent graduates, Undiksha has prepared a number of strategic programs. The curriculum is prepared according to the needs and demands, one of which is related to the industrial revolution 4.0. In lectures, students are encouraged not only to master the field according to the study program but also to have foreign language skills and master technology. “In an era like now, we have to be critical, creative, communicative, and collaborative. No less important is also character. This is what Undiksha cultivates to produce competitive graduates. Besides that, we also continue to improve campus infrastructure,” he said.
In the context of competency development as well, Undiksha has rolled out programs in the form of foreign street vendors and PPLs in collaboration with a number of universities in Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. In addition, in 2020, a fast-track program in collaboration with Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), Taiwan. The program is an effort to accelerate Undiksha students to obtain bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees. The implementation of this program is that for 3 years students will attend lectures at Undiksha and 2 years will do research (thesis) and master degree courses at MCUT. Apart from students, Undiksha is also committed to sending lecturers who have an interest in research in the fields of batteries, organic electronics, and also intelligent medical devices to continue their Ph.D. programs at MCUT.(hms)
