Socialization for new student admissions for the 2019/2020 academic year was carried out by Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) at SMA PGRI 1 Amlapura, Karangasem, on Friday (16/11/2018). There is something interesting about this activity which targets hundreds of class XII students. Undiksha Chancellor, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd together with Deputy Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Arnyana, M.Sc., came down directly to give a presentation. He emphasized that the largest university in North Bali offers various scholarships for continuing education.
Chancellor Jampel gave an overview of the campus, including the Faculty of Medicine which was officially opened in the 2018/2019 academic year. Likewise, campaigning for Undiksha’s vision to become a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia in 2045. In front of students majoring in Science, Social Sciences and IPB, the Chancellor from Badung Regency also emphasized that Undiksha is committed to supporting improving the quality of Human Resources (HR) through education. “We want all students to be able to continue to college to create a better life,” he stressed.
Realizing this commitment, this university which has eight faculties offers convenience. Namely by imposing affordable education costs. No less important is the provision of scholarships to underprivileged students, starting from Bidikmisi, PPA, banking, and chancellor scholarships. “We offer various scholarships to support them so they can enjoy their education. In terms of numbers, we are trying to continue to increase. Like bidikmisi. “There are also capable and outstanding students,” he said. His interest in coming to the school which is located on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman is in order to share information with other schools. “This school has an A accreditation. The same as several state schools in Karangasem,” he added.
Specifically regarding the student admission registration mechanism, Deputy Chancellor I, Ida Bagus Arnyana said there are three paths that can be taken. Namely, National Selection to Enter State Universities (SNMPTN), Joint Selection to Enter State Universities (SBMPTN), and independent. For SNMPTN, it is explained that the amount is at least 20 percent of the capacity quota for each study program. This selection is based on tracking academic achievements and portfolios. Applicants are only 2019 graduates and each person is allowed to choose two study programs in one or two PTNs, not cross interests. In this selection, PDSS filling and verification takes place from 4 to 25 January 2019. Registration is open from 4 to 14 February and the selection announcement is 23 March 2019. Specifically for re-registration, wait for the SMA/SMK/MA graduation announcement schedule.
Especially for SBMPTN, continued Arnyana, prospective applicants from SMA/SMK/MA graduates in 2017, 2018 and 2019 must first take the Computer Based Writing Examination (UTBK). Undiksha facilitated this test, which was implemented for the first time. Registration is open from January 12 to March 27 2019 online via the websitehttps://pendaftaran-utbk.sbmptn.ac.id use the National Student Identification Number (NISN) and National School Identification Number (NPSN) to get a username and password. The exam is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon on Saturday and Sunday, scheduled for March 30 – May 26, 2019, grouped into Science and Technology and Social Sciences. Consists of a scholastic potential test (TPS) and an Academic Competency Test (TKA). The announcement of the results is scheduled for April 10 to June 2, 2019. “In the previous year, in SBMPTN, you registered first and then took the test. “Now UTBK will continue with registration,” he explained. Meanwhile, the independent route will be opened after SNMPTN and SBMPTN. The mechanism is determined directly by the university.
Principal of SMA PGRI 1 Amlapura, Drs. I Ketut Jelantik, M.Si., said that about 20 percent of the total number of graduates continue to college every year. “Graduates’ desire to continue their education is actually quite large. But the problem is cost,” he said. It is hoped that the scholarship program offered by universities, including Undiksha, can make this wish come true. “Last year, we had a delay in receiving information about scholarships. “So now we ask for earlier socialization,” he concluded.
