Singaraja- Great news come from students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) who competed in the Sleman Swimming Clum Forum, Yogyakarta, on 12-13 February 2022. At this national level event, two Undiksha representatives, Dewa Gede Anom Artha Tanaya from the Sports Coaching Education Study Programme and Ni Made Putri Darmayanti from the Health and Recreation Physical Education Study Programme, managed to bring home four medals. Dewa Gede Anom won 2 bronze medals in the 100 and 200 meters butterfly style category. Meanwhile, Putri Darmayanti got one silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke style.
At this prestigious event, Undiksha athletes had to compete tightly. Both Anom and Putri explained that the preparation time required for this competition was approximately two months under the guidance of I Kadek Happy Kardiawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Dr. Wasti Danar Dani, S.Pd., M.A. During the training process, they did not deny that there were obstacles they faced. “I felt during the training process I was not giving my all because I was also preparing for my thesis proposal and astungkara; thank God today, on Thursday, February 17, 2022, I can proudly say I have completed the seminar proposal,” said Anom.
Putri Darmayanti, who is currently in the VI semester, also said that while preparing for the competition, her mind was split as she was also involved in committee activities. “It’s been approximately two months for the training preparation. However, in January, I joined the FOK anniversary committee. It makes my time to train a little less, ” she explained.
Disampaikan lebih lanjut, ketertarikan mereka mengikuti perlombaan tersebut, karena sebagai ajang persiapan untuk mengikuti seleksi Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Nasional (POMNAS) yang diadakan di Kota Padang, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Atas capaian yang diraih, tentu memberikan rasa bangga pada diri mereka karena bisa mengharumkan nama lembaga di tingkat Nasional.
They further stated that they were interested in participating in the competition because it was a means of preparation for National Student Sports Week (POMNAS), held in Padang City, West Sumatra Province. Of course, the current achievement gives them a sense of pride because they can make the institution’s name heard at the national level.
Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He hoped that this kind of spirit to compete would spread to other students in the future. Achievements are very important to increase the competitiveness of students and universities, both nationally and internationally. “Let Undiksha students pursue their achievements to become competitive students,” he asked.
