Southeast Asia Karate University Championship, Undiksha Got Two Medals in Sports.

Besides the success of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) in the championship of Educational Personnel Institution (LPTK) Cup 2017 which was held in Yogyakarta State University (UNY), this university also achieved excellence in the Southeast Asia Karate University “Sebelas Maret Cup X” held by Student Activity Unit (UKM) Karate-Do Indonesia Institute (INKAI) Sebelas Maret University, in Surakarta, 24 to 26 March 2017 at GOR Sritex Arena Surakarta, Central Java.

Manager/trainer SME Karate Undiksha, Kadek Yogi Parta Lesmana, S.Pd., M.Pd said the championship, which was also familiar with the name Smarcup, followed by 595 athletes. It was followed not only by the representative of all universities in Indonesia, but also from Timor Leste, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and Singapore. This was a prestigious event held every two years. This year Undiksha was able to show its achievement by winning a silver medal at Kumite Class -68 Kg female on behalf of Ni Kadek Ami Ariasti and bronze medal at Kumite Class -50 Kg female on behalf of I Gusti Ayu Ketut Suryadani. ” So, at the championship, Undiksha won two medals,” she said.

For the next championship, whether national or international level, Yogi Parta hoped that Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) would be able to reach more prestigious achievements. To make it happen, it needed very good preparation. “In this championship, the classes that followed by Undiksha are individual Kata and individual Kumite, these winner will be prepared in POMNAS championship this year, UNDIKSHA Jaya” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Undiksha, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd said that this achievement would trigger the academic community to compete in other championships. The desire to get a better achievement became a commitment that must be realized. “The future achievement should keep coming up, it should be better,” he said.

In addition, he stated that Undiksha had many talented athletes in various brances of sport. By given more attention and sustainable rehearsal,  he was optimistic that Undiksha would be able to reach more achievement in other championships.
