Brief History

Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha hereinafter referred to as Undiksha is a state institution of higher education where students learn to be teachers and non-teachers. In Bali, it is the biggest institution where students go to be teachers. So far more than thirty three thousand students, most of whom are teachers, have graduated from it. It was established in 1955 when it ran a B-1 Course through which students were trained to be Indonesian Language Teachers. In 1957 it ran a course through which students were trained to be Teachers of Commerce for Senior High School. Then, in 1962 the two courses were merged into the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education ‘Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan’ hereinafter referred to as FKIP of Airlangga University.
